## Questions on the Schedule

**Q: How many insecticides are listed in the Schedule?**
The Schedule to the Insecticides Act, 1968, as updated to 31 July 2026, runs to 1,027 serial numbers. This index reproduces the 1,025 entries carried in the published Schedule with a stated common name.

**Q: Does every substance in the Schedule require an import permit?**
Every substance in the Schedule is an insecticide for the purposes of the Act. Import for a non-insecticidal, industrial purpose requires an import permit on Form IA; import for insecticidal use requires registration under Section 9.

**Q: The substance is not traded under its common name. How is it identified?**
The search above covers the common name, the chemical or scientific name and the CAS number recorded in the Schedule. A preparation sold under a trade name is identified by its active ingredient, which is stated in the material safety data sheet.

**Q: Is the Schedule the same as the list of registered products?**
No. The Schedule identifies substances regulated under the Act. Registration under Section 9 is granted separately in respect of specific products and sources.
