Import requirements

The documents required with Form IA, the 30% quantity rule and the six stages of the application are set out in the import permit procedure and the document checklist. Consignments are released by customs only against a permit valid on the date of import and naming the source of supply.

All 46 entries listed on this page are substances in the Schedule to the Insecticides Act, 1968. Import of any of them for a non-insecticidal, industrial purpose requires an import permit on Form IA from the Registration Committee of CIB&RC.

What is the government fee and the decision timeline?

The government fee prescribed with Form IA is ₹5,000 per application, payable to the authority. A complete application is to be decided preferably within 45 days, extendable by up to 15 days.

How is a substance traded under a brand name identified?

By its active ingredient, as stated in the material safety data sheet. Where the active ingredient appears in the Schedule, the preparation is regulated accordingly.
